Mahalo Members!
Following a successful July Membership Drive, we were delighted to bring back our Annual Member Event on Saturday, August 9. Hosted by Mill staff, the afternoon was filled with creativity, conversation, and connection.
During the event, guests heard an update from Executive Director, Ashley Raymond, highlighting the Mill’s recent milestones and exciting future initiatives. Attendees also took part in a hands-on art activity creating a collective lei of leaf rubbings from native plants foraged on campus and one-word pewa patches—each expressing a personal reflection on healing, resilience, and connection. This collaborative artwork serves as a visual expression of the spirit of this community.
We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended and to all who choose to be members. Your support sustains the Mill’s mission and reflects a shared commitment to preserving and celebrating arts and culture in our community.
A Collective Lei
Using kukui, hau, and māmaki leaves, attendees created leaf rubbings on paper. Each rubbing was accompanied by a one-word pewa patch, in answer to the guiding question: What does pewa mean to you? All hung together, we created a collective lei.
