Description: Using the wili (twist) style, learn how to make a lei poʻo (lei for your head) using greenery and flowers foraged from nature. Look around you for inspiration to create stunning pieces of art perfect for any celebration.
Level: All ages welcome. Any child, 10 or under, must be accompanied by an adult (and can take the class together!)
Please note: Registration for this class will close on Friday, September 27 at midnight.
The Mill will provide:
- Raffia, floral wire, scissors, greenery base of green and red ti, song of india, and flowers
Students are encouraged to bring other foraged flowers and greenery such as:
- Palapalai, pohinahina, hina hina (spanish moss), ʻaʻaliʻi, plumeria, small ginger, orchids, anthuriums, bougainvillea, etc. *Note: All flowers should be cut with a 2” stem. Please contact us with any questions about supplies.
- A pūpū and a beverage to enjoy during your class
About the Artist: Allison Tan is an experienced marketer, floral designer, and retail consultant at the Mill. You can find her at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, the Mill, Pine Trees, or creating in her home studio in the company of her husband, seven cats, and bird.
About this Program: Creative Outlet: A Night of Art Making with Friends is a monthly opportunity for you to connect with local artists and tap into your own creativity while you pau hana with new and old friends. Bring a pūpū and beverage and learn something new like weaving a lei po’o or a lauhala bracelet, printmaking, painting, pinch pots and so much more!
