Film Synopsis: Frei Otto: Spanning the Future is a captivating documentary that delves into the life and legacy of Frei Otto, a visionary architect and engineer who revolutionized contemporary lightweight architecture. His innovative ideas continue to inspire awe, even decades after their introduction, a testament further underscored by his recognition as the 2015 Laureate of the Pritzker Architecture Prize.

In one of his final interviews before his passing, Frei Otto reflects on how the tumultuous years surrounding WWII shaped his pioneering work in tensile architecture. Alongside influential figures like Buckminster "Bucky" Fuller, Walter Gropius, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Richard Neutra, Otto emerged as a true visionary. His unique approach to form-finding not only addressed structural challenges but also sought to solve social issues, laying the groundwork for modern architectural practices. Frei Otto: Spanning the Future invites architecture enthusiasts on an inspiring journey through the history of architecture and its impact on the future.
