Description: Try your hand in the print studio with this newly designed class for future printmakers! You’ll join Robert in the studio and create hand-made greeting cards using monotype printmaking.
Monotype printmaking offers a quick and fun way to create unique works of art. Since only one impression is made, each piece you create is truly one-of-a-kind. However, there’s also the possibility of making ‘ghost prints’—slightly faded impressions that add a subtle, surprising dimension to your work. This technique can yield results that are beautifully surprising, whether subtle, dramatic, loose, or painterly, depending on your approach.
This class invites both newcomers and those familiar with printmaking to explore the foundations of monotype and basic color theory while creating hand-printed cards. All materials will be provided.
Register early as space is limited to 3 participants.

About the Artist
Robert Corsair’s journey as an artist is as colorful as his travels around the world. After settling in Hawai’i in 1972, he opened the iconic Middle Earth bookstore in Kailua Kona. A lover of 20th-century art, French literature, jazz, and gourmet cuisine, Corsair makes annual pilgrimages to Paris, where he draws inspiration for his work. His passion for printmaking led him to the Donkey Mill Art Center's Print Studio, where he studied under Hiroki Morinoue. Over the past 10 years, he has honed his craft at the Atelier Bo Halbrik in Paris, working on a series of etchings. Corsair’s dedication to printmaking over the last six years has resulted in an impressive body of work, with pieces featured in both private and public collections, including The West Hawai’i Community Health Center, where art plays a role in healing. His prints are known for their playful embrace of cubism, papier collé, and abstract expressionism.
