Description: Join Teaching Artist Allison Tan for a fun day celebrating the art and beauty of lei making and pua (flowers)! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn foraging etiquette, how to prep greens and pua, and most importantly, explore the cultural significance and history of lei in Hawaiian culture. Using the wili (wrap/twist) style, you’ll craft your very own lei poʻo (lei for your head) adorned with greenery and beautiful pua.

Bonus: Lei poʻo can often last for weeks. Whether you choose to wear it for an upcoming event or gift it to a loved one, this lei is sure to bring joy and beauty to any upcoming celebration. 

Level:  For ages 10 and up. This style of lei requires a level of patience and dexterity. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note: Registration for this class will close on Saturday, September 27 at midnight. 

Supply Fee Includes:

  • Raffia, floral wire, scissors, greenery, and pua. (everything you'll need to make your lei po'o)
  • A bag for storing your lei po'o 

Students should bring: 

  • Any foraged or purchased pua and greenery to enhance your lei
  • A pūpū to share

About the Artist: Allison Tan an experienced marketer, floral designer, and retail consultant at the Mill. You can find her at Hualalai Resort, the Mill, Pine Trees, or creating in her home studio in the company of her husband, seven cats, and four birds.
