Description: Embark on an imaginative journey as we go holo holo—cruising to discover vibrant cultures both here in Hawaiʻi and around the world. Inspired by Hōkūleʻa’s worldwide voyage and its guiding value of mālama honua (to care for our Island Earth), this 12-week art program invites students to explore connections between self, family, community, and global cultures through creativity.
Using the elements of art and the power of storytelling, students will engage in hands-on experiences across the Donkey Mill Art Center’s diverse studios—ceramics, printmaking, and fibers. Together with our teaching artists, young explorers will deepen their understanding of place, identity, and the shared responsibility we have to care for one another and our planet.
Schedule: Thursdays, January 29 – April 23, 2026 from 3:00 – 5:00pm. There will be no class on Thursdsay, March 19.
Level: Ages 9 – 12
Please note: Registration for this class will close on Saturday, January 24 at midnight.
Supply Fee Includes:
- All supplies needed

About Our Programs: As a place of convergence, the Mill serves as both a community and a physical place–celebrating the power of the arts, bringing people, ideas and perspectives together. We are proud to offer adult and youth programs that focus on awareness of one’s individuality in the contexts of family, community and the natural world. Our exhibitions provide a space to reflect, share perspectives and grow as a community. Our classes & workshops are designed to inspire creativity, foster connections, and provide enriching experiences for all participants. We invite you to join us in the studio.
