About the Artist: Josephine Coppinger (she/her) grew up in the woods of Western Massachusetts making fairy houses, mashing berries to make potions, and playing with mud. Years later this translated to her continued love for the outdoors and creating with clay. Josephine started her ceramics journey during high school and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College, MA with a degree in Sociology and Visual Art. Following school, she started working in the Greater Boston Area teaching ceramic classes and working as an artists assistant for two local ceramicists. Through working in these various studios, she found herself attracted to function, comfort, and surface design in her own work. With these styles in practice, her efforts have developed into pursuing ceramics full time under her business, Josephine Mae Design. Since then, the opportunity to teach outside of her personal work has brought her much joy, as she is able to guide students in exploring new ideas and curiosities within the craft.

About Our Programs: As a place of convergence, the Mill serves as both a community and a physical place–celebrating the power of the arts, bringing people, ideas and perspectives together. We are proud to offer adult and youth programs that focus on awareness of one’s individuality in the contexts of family, community and the natural world. Our exhibitions provide a space to reflect, share perspectives and grow as a community. Our classes & workshops are designed to inspire creativity, foster connections, and provide enriching experiences for all participants. We invite you to join us in the studio.
