Description: In the workshop, you’ll explore the creative possibilities of printmaking with recycled Tetra Pak cartons. Using both collagraph and intaglio techniques, you’ll transform the surface of the plate by layering tape, cutting shapes, and peeling back the carton to reveal textures and tones. Ink settles into the grooves and textures, creating rich contrasts as the smooth areas print lighter and raised or textured sections hold deeper color.
After inking, your plate will be run through the press, transferring your design onto paper. By the end of the workshop, you’ll understand how to design, build, and print from your own Tetra Pak plates, leaving with original prints and the knowledge to keep experimenting with this accessible, sustainable process.
Level: Beginner, Ages 16+

About the Artist: Fletcher Lambert is a printmaker, lauhala weaver and birder, based in Captain Cook, Hawaii. He began attending classes at the Donkey Mill Art Center in 2020 at the age of 12, it was here that he discovered his love for printmaking. He continued on to have a two year mentorship with printmaker Jerry Waish, as well as learning from printmakers Hunter Buck, Robert Corsair and Hiroki Morinoue. His work has been shown at Donkey Mill Art Center, Honolulu Printmakers, and Wailoa Art Center. Fletcher's work largely consists of bird prints, specifically the native Hawaiian birds. His goal is to spread awareness about these endangered species and hopefully inspire people to go see them with their own eyes.
