Event Description: Join artist Eric Edwards for a discussion of his solo exhibition, Eric Edwards: Technology, Perceptions and New Worlds, on view June 27 – August 1, 2026, and the creative journey behind his work. Drawing from a career that spans pioneering digital imaging technology at Sony and years of photographic exploration across Hawaiʻi and beyond, Edwards will share how innovation, curiosity, and observation shape his art. Through photography, sculpture, and immersive media, including his award-winning 360-degree spherical image of the Kaʻū desert, Eric invites audiences to consider new ways of seeing and experiencing the world around them.
Event Details: The evening's program will start at 6pm after a welcome and potluck. This event is free and open to the public. If able, please bring a healthy dish to share and/or something to drink for a communal dinner. The artist talk will begin at 6:00pm.

About the Artist: Working primarily in Hawaiʻi, Eric Edwards captures still and moving images. Most recently he has been working on a new series, Sentinels. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Hawaiʻi Island Community Health Center and the Donkey Mill Art Center and has been exhibited at the East Hawaiʻi Cultural Center, Wailoa Center and the Donkey Mill Art Center.
He volunteers his digital media skills for various non-profit organizations, including Hawaiʻi Artist Collaboration, Donkey Mill Art Center and HULIPAC. He has taught photography workshops at the Donkey Mill Art Center and has lectured in the Art Department of Hawaiʻi Community College. As a volunteer media instructor at Kua O Ka Lā Public Charter School-Miloliʻi Hīpuʻu Virtual Academy, Eric works with students to produce their work for the PBS Hawaiʻi show HIKI NŌ and, in 2015, helped his high school students earn the award for Best News Writing. From 2011 to 2019, Eric served on the Board of Directors of the Donkey Mill Art Center.
Eric moved to the island of Hawaiʻi in 2006 after a career at Sony where he developed digital imaging technology, intellectual property and led development of international standards in digital photography, digital cinema, JPEG and MPEG. He has authored/co-authored 55 US Patents.
