Thanks to generous donations from our Annual Fund Drive 2023, we were able to complete several important facility-related projects. A huge mahalo goes out to those that support us behind the scenes and to the helping hands onsite that made it all come together.

Ceramics Studio Cover

Our ceramics studio has a new lid! It took many hands and hours to replace and reinforce our ceramics studio cover. Led by Ceramics Studio Coordinator, Jake Boggs, the team was able to rehouse the old tarp in our Fibers Garden and hang the new, glistening tarp above the studio – just in time for the Spring semester of classes to begin.

Termites, Be Gone!

Thank you to the crew at Bowman Termite & Pest Management for undergoing the incredible feat of termite tenting our 70-year old building. With a quick set up & tear down process (not to mention a storm-watch warning), they were able to rid the building of pesky friends during our winter closure. These critical projects are what keep us up and running!

Mahalo to Our Volunteers

Mahalo nui loa to all of those that helped prepare our facilities for these projects! We are able to function because of this community and the many hands that show up, ready to work. We’re grateful for your energy, time, and dedication to the Mill. If you’re interested in volunteering at the Mill, contact us!

Coming Up in 2024

2024 marks the 70th anniversary of the original Kona Coffee Cooperative building that the Donkey Mill calls home. This building has spent decades serving as a special gathering place for West Hawai‘i. As the number of people served by our programs increases, the needs of both our team and of our aging facilities are correspondingly rising as well. Our ability to meet current community demand for classes and events is often restricted by our facility limitations. In the immediate future, we will continue developing a Master Campus Plan that aims at addressing these growing community needs through a major renovation of the existing historic structure and the addition of new permanent spaces. We truly look forward to sharing more on this soon!
