We’re excited to welcome Abbey Hume as the Mill’s new Development Manager!

Originally from Colorado and now rooted in Captain Cook, Abbey brings over a decade of experience in mission-driven media, community storytelling, and partnership development. Her career spans work in the TV and film industry, nonprofit communications, and sponsor relations—supporting organizations committed to culture, education, and environmental stewardship. She specializes in crafting thoughtful narratives, building meaningful relationships, and connecting people to projects that create lasting community impact.

Abbey lives off-grid with her partner and 4-year-old son, tending bees and caring for the land as sustainably as possible. She shares that life here continues to teach her about rhythm, reciprocity, and belonging—values she is excited to carry into her work at the Mill.

Since joining us, Abbey has already begun connecting with our staff, volunteers, and supporters, diving into the heart of our shared mission with curiosity, warmth, and deep appreciation for the creative spirit of this place. In her role, she will support donor relations, storytelling, and community engagement efforts that help sustain the Mill’s future.

“I’m honored to be part of a place that uplifts artists, nurtures learning, and strengthens community. I look forward to building relationships, listening, and contributing to the shared work of caring for this space we all love.”

We are delighted Abbey is here—please join us in welcoming her to the Donkey Mill ʻohana!
